Addiction

Identify and move past addiction.

Have you tried to stop and find yourself falling back into the same patterns? Are you someone seeking emotional relief on a daily basis in ways you wish you didn’t? Do you have a family member or loved one who might be struggling with alcoholism or drug addiction and need direction? Addiction is a complex struggle, affecting both the individual struggling with the addiction as well as family members. These are just a few, simple examples of what we can explore together, no matter how drug and alcohol abuse have impacted your life or where you are on your recovery journey. Addiction is not always black and white. Being able to discern the difference between abusing a substance and struggling with a substance abuse disorder is always a good place to start. Often an increase in drinking or using can be situational as well. Being able to identify and mitigate certain stressors that make us more susceptible to abuse is often a process. We also teach individuals the tools necessary to move beyond addiction and help our clients, who are in recovery, create relapse prevention protocols that suit their individual experience and need.

Restore Therapist, David Hofstetter, is an expert in the field of addiction with over a decade of experience working with individuals and families navigating addiction and helping people come to a place of acceptance, recovery, and ultimately healed relationships and wellbeing. David’s time working with treatment centers and in private practice has given him a special niche in working with anyone who not only struggles with a substance addiction but also anyone affected as well.

Trigger Reduction

Feel like you have a pretty good understanding of what your recovery looks like? Are there times or situations when things seem harder than others? For some people coming home after work was typically when they would have their first drink. For others it could be watching sports, playing golf or a business function. Are there moments like these that create that urge to want to use or drink? What if you could turn the volume down on the urge in that moment in time and be able to share space with it and be ok?

At Restore Counseling Nashville, we offer a unique compliment to recovery. Trigger reduction therapy is not designed as a means to “cure” a person from any unhealthy urges but is meant to help enhance an individuals chances at maintaining longer term sobriety in conjunction with whatever there specific recovery looks like. Most all people struggle with “Hallmark” moments that create high levels of uneasiness that can be considered high risk for relapse.  What if you could practice being in those moments and not feel so uncomfortable and be aware of what you are experiencing.

Our process for trigger reduction at Restore Counseling is uniquely different than traditional “Talk” therapy. This process combines different elements from EMDR, Mindfulness, DeTUR and resources building to create a safe and effective opportunity for people to be able to sacrifice less for their recovery and experience more of what life has to offer.
