About Therapy

Some problems are more challenging to solve.
Sure, you’re used to solving problems, but sometimes, problems can feel different, making it hard to know which way to turn.
You’re used to confidently managing complex demands, but lately, your inner resilience feels stretched thin.
Perhaps you have hit emotional roadblocks that make you feel disconnected from yourself or others, or wonder if there’s more to life than just getting through it.
As a therapist, I help individuals who are outwardly successful but internally overwhelmed find clarity, calm, and a more profound sense of purpose. Therapy doesn’t mean something is wrong with you – it means you’re ready to live more intentionally.
Therapy is about exploration.
My approach is insightful, collaborative, and grounded in growth. I believe therapy should be a safe, reflective space where you can slow down and get curious about your inner world. We’ll explore what’s working, what’s not, and the patterns that may keep you stuck – even if you’ve been high-functioning for years.
My approach integrates a range of evidence-based and holistic modalities, including:
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness, Somatic awareness, Motivational Interviewing, and Non-Violent Communication (NVC).
This blend allows us to work cognitively and experientially, helping you understand your thoughts while tuning into your emotions and body. Everything we do is tailored to your personality, pace, and goals. We’re not just treating symptoms but working toward sustainable, meaningful change.
Clients have described me as thoughtful, grounding, intuitive, and honest – someone who can hold space for big emotions and goals.

Why do I choose to do this work?
I’ve long been fascinated by people’s inner workings – what shapes, challenges, and ultimately helps them grow.
I know how easy it is to look like you’ve got it all together, even when struggling inside.
That’s why I’m passionate about helping people create lives that feel as good on the inside as they look on the outside. It’s not about perfection – it’s about alignment, intention, and growth.
About David Hofstetter, LADAC, LPC, MHSP

Here’s some background information.
I’m a Nashville native, and my roots here run deep. I attended Lipscomb University, earning my degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology, followed by a Master’s in Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University.
I began my clinical journey at Mental Health Cooperative and spent eight years at Cumberland Heights, a nationally recognized treatment center. I served in various roles there, including individual and family counselor, case manager, mobile assessment, and business development. Each position gave me a broader perspective on how people heal and the many ways life experience shapes our inner world.
My work has also taken me beyond direct care. I’ve worked in business development and leadership roles in the behavioral health care industry, including managing teams at a prestigious treatment center in Salt Lake City, Utah. I’ve also had the privilege of helping launch a pro-bono counseling initiative at The West Nashville Dream Center, providing mental health support for individuals and families with limited access to care. These experiences gave me insight into the broader care systems and deepened my belief in holistic, integrated treatment for lasting change.
I hold two state licensures in Tennessee: LPC-MHSP (Licensed Professional Counselor – Mental Health Service Provider) and LADAC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor). These designations reflect a broad mental health focus and a specialized foundation in trauma and addiction treatment.
Outside of my professional work…
I try to live what I teach. I enjoy spending time in Nashville’s local parks, cooking, supporting local artists and nonprofits, and making space for quality time with my wife, daughters, and our dog.
Let’s face those challenges together.
Therapy isn’t only an occupation for me – it’s who I am inside and outside. If you’re ready to move through what’s been holding you back and into something more grounded, intentional, and whole, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
You’ve worked hard to get where you are, but you don’t have to figure out the next chapter alone.
If you’re ready to explore what’s possible with therapy’s support, I’d be honored to walk with you. We can start by you scheduling a free 15-minute consultation to see if we are a good fit.
